At Jewish Gateways, we’re all about learning as a family, making Judaism accessible, and connecting Jewish tradition to everyday life. We’re excited to welcome you into our inclusive community! Join us for an upcoming event, explore our learning programs, or schedule time to grab coffee with Rabbi Steph.

Family Programs

Nourish and Nurture
Our monthly group for families with young children. We’ll connect, enjoy bagels and explore how to bring Jewish values into everyday family life in ways that feel personal and doable. Sessions include childcare!
0-Pre-K

Growing Together
Our alternative to your typical Hebrew school, Growing Together is all about learning as a family. We use art, music and play-based learning for kids, while parents participate in guided group discussions, modeling the value of lifelong learning. 
Pre-K-5th Grade

B-Mitzvah
Our unique two-year B-Mitzvah program is personalized for each student (and includes parents!). We'll design a learning project, customized ritual or ceremony, and offer optional Hebrew study. We can go traditional or create something totally new.
6th-7th Grade

Purim _ JCC 3.1.png
"Under the Sea" Purim at the JCC
Sunday, March 1 • 2:00-4:30 pm
JCC of the East Bay

Join Rabbi Steph at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay to celebrate a special Purim Carnival! This “Under the Sea Purim” will be packed with color, costumes, and joyful chaos.


Come to enjoy a bounce house, a glowing black-light “aquarium,” carnival games, face painting, food, and more!

Prepare for Passover: Making Matzah
Sunday, March 29 • 2:00-4:00 pm
Oakland

Join Jewish Gateways community members and Rabbi Steph for a fun and interactive matzah-making experience. Together we’ll mix, roll, and bake our own matzah while learning about the meaning behind this Passover food and its place in the Seder. Afterward, we’ll enjoy tasting the fresh matzah together with a variety of dips and toppings.

This event is open to everyone.

Grab Coffee with Rabbi Steph

We’d love to get to know your family one-on-one! Schedule time to grab a coffee (or tea) with our Family Learning Director, Rabbi Steph Kennedy. In addition to welcoming you to the Jewish Gateways community, she’ll answer questions, connect you to Jewish resources, and help you navigate what Judaism looks like for you and your family.
