Jewish Community Center of the East Bay, Berkeley
Join us for a unique, community-wide celebration of meaningful Jewish learning that brings together individuals from all perspectives and backgrounds. You can participate in whichever activities interest you—it's entirely up to you.
No prior experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome! This event is organized and sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay. Amazing teachers, ranging from secular to Orthodox, will offer a variety of learning sessions on a wide range of Jewish topics, held each hour throughout the event.*
This gathering celebrates the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, commemorating the Jewish people’s receiving of the Torah, particularly the Ten Commandments. This event is known as Tikkun Shavuot. Jewish Gateways is a co-sponsor of this event, and Rabbi Bridget Wynne will teach one of the sessions.
Rabbi Bridget Wynne's Session: Balancing Loving-Kindness with Justice
5:00-5:50 pm, Auditorium
Finding the right balance between chesed (loving-kindness) and gevurah (justice and boundary setting) can be challenging, yet it’s essential in our personal lives, communities, and the wider world. In this class, we’ll draw on Mussar, a Jewish ethical and spiritual tradition, to explore how to cultivate and integrate these two foundational traits.
